Watchman Nee (Strongest)

To bear the cross means that you refrain from doing what you have the power to do. You are qualified to fulfill your desire, yet you refrain from doing so. A person like this is the strongest person. The strongest person is not the one who is able to do something, but the one who is able not to do what he has the power to do.

Watchman Nee (Church Leader, 1903 – 1972)

Watchman Nee (In Christ)

Outside of Christ, I am only a sinner, but in Christ, I am saved. Outside of Christ, I am empty; in Christ, I am full. Outside of Christ, I am weak; in Christ, I am strong. Outside of Christ, I cannot; in Christ, I am more than able. Outside of Christ, I have been defeated; in Christ, I am already victorious. How meaningful are the words, “in Christ.”

Watchman Nee (Church Leader, 1903 – 1972)

John Bunyan (The Heart)

It is not the mouth that is the main thing to be looked at in prayer, but whether the heart is so full of affection and earnestness in prayer with God, that it is impossible to express their sense and desire; for then a man desires indeed, when his desires are so strong, many, and mighty, that all the words, tears, and groans that can come from the heart, cannot utter them.

John Bunyan (Preacher, 1628 – 1688)

John Bunyan (Coveting)

The covetous man feareth not God. This also is plain from the word because it setteth covetousness and the fear of God in direct opposition. Men that fear God are said to hate covetousness, Exod. 18:21. Besides the covetous man is called an idolater and is said to have no part in the kingdom of Christ and of God, Col. 3:5. And again; ‘The wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire and blesseth the covetous whom the Lord abhorreth,’ Ps.10:3.

John Bunyan (Preacher, 1628 – 1688)
