Anger

When we think of anger we instantly think about things that annoy us. We try to justify our anger and somehow build up a wall of defense in case of attack. Now let’s take a look at what the LORD says about anger, He tells us that if we control our anger that we have great understanding (Proverbs 14:29). He tells us that if we are short tempered that we will do foolish things (Proverbs 14:17). He tells us that gentle words turn away wrath and that harsh words stir up anger (Proverbs 15:1). He tells us that if we hang around the wrong kind of people that we are going to get into trouble ourselves (Proverbs 15:18, 16:28, 16:29-30, 17:19, 18:6, 22:24-25). Then God tells us what to do when angry, be patient and have self-control (Proverbs 16:32). It also tells us to drop the matter before a dispute breaks out (Proverbs 17:14). It tells us to restrain our anger and overlook wrongs that have been done to us (Proverbs 19:11). Now that we have discussed some of the things that Scripture teaches us about anger, let’s talk about anger. Anger is a God given emotion to give us a sense of when something is wrong. What we have today is a liberal society that is politically correct and uses this liberal agenda to push its tyranny on us to suppress our natural God given emotion down as far as we can so as not to offend someone and cause them any offence no matter how harmful their actions may be. Well I can tell you as a child of God, God gets angry also, and when God is angry there is no withstanding the wrath that comes from this anger!!! Now don’t get me wrong, God is patient and God has self-control obviously, or we would all be wiped out as a society for the offences that we have done. But let me give you an example of God’s anger, when Jesus was preaching the Good News to the people and Jesus came to the Temple, He turned over the tables where the people were taking advantage of all the people coming to the Temple to worship God. You see, the moneychangers were ripping the people off and taking advantage of the people’s sincerity to God and God was not happy about this. This anger is called righteous anger. It is like being angry that someone did harm to your child for an example, without cause. As Charleston Heston said “Political correctness is tyranny with manners”. We hear today that speaking your mind or telling the truth is politically incorrect and that it could be considered even a hate crime if you are not tolerant of some kinds of evil, but I have news for you, I am out to please God on this subject, because I know that there is going to be a judgment day and guess who the Judge is? Yes, that’s right God Almighty!!! So it is alright to get angry, but make sure that you control your anger and that it does not control you, for the Scriptures clearly teach us that we are to control our anger, not suppress it when wrongs are being done. The problem with society today is we bow down to psychology (The study of the soul) from man’s point of view, instead of looking to the Creator of the Soul (God Almighty) for the answers to our problems. May God Bless you through this study and please apply these truths into your life, to have better relationships throughout your lifetime. Remember the Golden Rule, treat others the way you want to be treated, not just treating people well, but overlook wrongs, forgive others and just love on others every chance you get!!!
