Anxiety

Anxiety is the pressure that is created when a person worries about something. It is an overwhelming feeling that can consume your soul. In some instances it actually causes medical conditions to exist. When we stress about something, this is anxiety, it has all sorts of negative effects on our soul and our bodies. It steals our peace, it focuses our attention on something that does not necessarily even exist. It starts in our minds and does everything it can to end up in our hearts so that it can consume us!!! This is the pressure that I was speaking about. The only way that I have found to truly beat this issue in life is to look to the Holy Scriptures (The Bible). In this study you will find Scriptures that describe Anxiety and how to deal with it accordingly. They say that almost everything that we worry about does not even come to fruition. That means that it never actually ever takes place. We carry around these burdens like extra bags of stuff that we never needed to carry. God tells us in Matthew 6:25 “don’t worry”, in Matthew 6:27 “Can all your worries” add anything to your life, in Matthew 6:28 God asks the question “why worry”. These are just some of the things that the Holy Spirit is going to reveal to you throughout this study. Let me tell you something about studying Scripture, you have to meditate on it, and before you even start you need to Pray to God the Father in Jesus’ name that he gives you the focus, the understanding, the wisdom to apply what the Holy Spirit has taught you and when He answers your prayers give Him all the glory for what He has done in your life, DO NOT try and take the glory for what the LORD has done for you, He does not share his glory with anyone according to Scripture. Now what I meant about meditating on the Scripture, is you need to read it slowly like you were digging for treasure, thinking about everything that is being said, what is being said, who it is being said too, what is the LORD saying about the subject, look for the who, why, where, etc. statements, then think about how these things apply to your life. A lot of people think that meditation is emptying your mind and trying to think about nothing, well when the LORD tells you to meditate on His Scripture it does not mean that at all. He wants to engage with you in a relationship and show you how to live a good healthy peaceful life in a chaotic world. As Scripture tells us He will give us peace beyond understanding. I hope that you got as much peace as I did when I put this subject study together and the verse references are there so that you can look these Scriptures up yourselves in order to do more study, of who, why, where, etc. May God Bless you and take away all of your anxieties and worries and give you His peace!!!

Anxiety: the condition of feeling uneasy or worried about what may happen;

Proverbs 1:28-33

“I will not answer them when they cry for help. Even though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me. For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the LORD. They rejected my advice and paid no attention when I corrected them. That is why they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way. They must experience the full terror of the path they have chosen. For they are simpletons who turn away from me- to death. They are fools, and their own complacency will destroy them. But all who listen to me will live in peace and safety, unafraid of harm.”

Matthew 6:25-34             Side note: This was Jesus speaking

“So I tell you, don’t worry about everyday life– whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn’t life consist of more than food and clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because your heavenly Father feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than they are. Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not.

“And why worry about your clothes? Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won’t he more surely care for you? You have so little faith!

So don’t worry about having enough food or drink or clothing. Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

1 Timothy 6:6-8

Yet true religion with contentment is great wealth. After all, we didn’t bring anything with us when we came into the world, and we certainly cannot carry anything with us when we die. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.

1 Peter 5:7

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you.

Hebrews 13:5

Stay away from the love of money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you, I will never forsake you.”

Psalm 55:22

Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

Matthew 8:25-27

The disciples went to him and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” And Jesus answered, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he stood up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly all was calm. The disciples just sat there in awe. “Who is this?” they asked themselves. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”

Matthew 14:31-32  Side note: This verse was Peter walking on the water.

Instantly Jesus reached out his hand and grabbed him. “You don’t have much faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?” And when they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped.

Job 38:41    Side note: This was God asking Job a question.

Who provides food for the ravens when their young cry out to God as they wander about in hunger?

Psalm 37:4

Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.

1 Kings 10:4-9

When the queen of Sheba realized how wise Solomon was, and when she saw the palace he had built, she was breathless. She was also amazed at the food on his tables, the organization of his officials and their splendid clothing, the cup-bearers and their robes, and the burnt offering Solomon made at the Temple of the LORD.

She exclaimed to the king, “Everything I heard in my country about your achievements and wisdom is true! I didn’t believe it until I arrived here and saw it with my own eyes. Truly I had not heard the half of it! Your wisdom and prosperity are far greater than what I was told. How happy these people must be! What a privilege for your officials to stand here day after day, listening to your wisdom! The LORD your God is great indeed! He delights in you and has placed you on the throne of Israel. Because the LORD loves Israel with an eternal love, he has made you king so you can rule with justice and righteousness.”

Psalm 37:25           Side note: This was a Psalm of David, Solomon’s father.

Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly forsaken, nor seen their children begging for bread.

Psalm 37:1-7

Don’t worry about the wicked. Don’t envy those who do wrong. For like grass, they soon fade away. Like springtime flowers, they soon wither.

Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.

Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence as clear as the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.

Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Anger

When we think of anger we instantly think about things that annoy us. We try to justify our anger and somehow build up a wall of defense in case of attack. Now let’s take a look at what the LORD says about anger, He tells us that if we control our anger that we have great understanding (Proverbs 14:29). He tells us that if we are short tempered that we will do foolish things (Proverbs 14:17). He tells us that gentle words turn away wrath and that harsh words stir up anger (Proverbs 15:1). He tells us that if we hang around the wrong kind of people that we are going to get into trouble ourselves (Proverbs 15:18, 16:28, 16:29-30, 17:19, 18:6, 22:24-25). Then God tells us what to do when angry, be patient and have self-control (Proverbs 16:32). It also tells us to drop the matter before a dispute breaks out (Proverbs 17:14). It tells us to restrain our anger and overlook wrongs that have been done to us (Proverbs 19:11). Now that we have discussed some of the things that Scripture teaches us about anger, let’s talk about anger. Anger is a God given emotion to give us a sense of when something is wrong. What we have today is a liberal society that is politically correct and uses this liberal agenda to push its tyranny on us to suppress our natural God given emotion down as far as we can so as not to offend someone and cause them any offence no matter how harmful their actions may be. Well I can tell you as a child of God, God gets angry also, and when God is angry there is no withstanding the wrath that comes from this anger!!! Now don’t get me wrong, God is patient and God has self-control obviously, or we would all be wiped out as a society for the offences that we have done. But let me give you an example of God’s anger, when Jesus was preaching the Good News to the people and Jesus came to the Temple, He turned over the tables where the people were taking advantage of all the people coming to the Temple to worship God. You see, the moneychangers were ripping the people off and taking advantage of the people’s sincerity to God and God was not happy about this. This anger is called righteous anger. It is like being angry that someone did harm to your child for an example, without cause. As Charleston Heston said “Political correctness is tyranny with manners”. We hear today that speaking your mind or telling the truth is politically incorrect and that it could be considered even a hate crime if you are not tolerant of some kinds of evil, but I have news for you, I am out to please God on this subject, because I know that there is going to be a judgment day and guess who the Judge is? Yes, that’s right God Almighty!!! So it is alright to get angry, but make sure that you control your anger and that it does not control you, for the Scriptures clearly teach us that we are to control our anger, not suppress it when wrongs are being done. The problem with society today is we bow down to psychology (The study of the soul) from man’s point of view, instead of looking to the Creator of the Soul (God Almighty) for the answers to our problems. May God Bless you through this study and please apply these truths into your life, to have better relationships throughout your lifetime. Remember the Golden Rule, treat others the way you want to be treated, not just treating people well, but overlook wrongs, forgive others and just love on others every chance you get!!!
