This is the most dangerous trial of all, when there is no trial and every thing goes well; for then a man is tempted to forget God, to become too bold and to misuse times of prosperity.

People go through three conversions: The conversion of their head, their heart, and their pocketbook. Unfortunately, not all at the same time.

The world doesn’t want to be punished. It wants to remain in darkness. It doesn’t want to be told that what it believes is false. If you also don’t want to be corrected, then you might as well leave the church and spend your time at the bar and brothel. But if you want to be saved-and remember that there’s another life after this one-you must accept correction.
Martin Luther (Priest, 1483 – 1546)
Feelings come and feelings go, And feelings are deceiving; My warrant is the Word of God– Naught else is worth believing. Though all my heart should feel condemned For want of some sweet token, There is One greater than my heart Whose Word cannot be broken. I’ll trust in God’s unchanging Word Till soul and body sever, For, though all things shall pass away, HIS WORD SHALL STAND FOREVER!
Martin Luther (Priest, 1483 – 1546)
Our soul is what makes us who we are as an individual. As Scripture says, Jesus died to save our souls. Why did our soul need to be saved, because Adam gave dominion to Satan back in the garden and ever since then, our souls have been condemned to go to hell. God sent His son to die on a cross to pay the price for our sins in order to redeem our souls back into right standing with Himself. For in (Genesis 9:6) “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man. (NKJV). So when this happened at the crucifixion, the one who shed his blood, was Satan, so at that very time in history, Satan lost his dominion. For Satan had crucified an innocent man “Jesus”, so now Satan’s blood was required of him. His judgment was sealed at that moment and his dominion was also lost. Now we are made in the image of God and God has revealed some attributes about Himself throughout Scripture, such as, He told King David that “He was a man after God’s own heart”. He has revealed that He is the same “Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, that he never changes”. He told us that Abraham was a friend of God. Jesus said that “I and the Father are one”. That nothing is impossible for God. Now we see that there are attributes of God that we absolutely do not have and that we will never have, but we also see that there are things about God that we also have. We have a heart, we have friends. We can be very close to people, to the point that we feel like we are one with them. Even in this study it says that “Jonathan’s soul was knitted to David’s soul”. Our soul is who we are and it is a little bit different than our heart for example. Our heart seems to be where our emotions are stored in general, and it has a great influence over our soul, but it is our soul, that has the ultimate say. God has told us that our heart is “deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked, who can know it?” We are basically told not to trust our own heart, what does that tell you, that we can be deceived by our own hearts. But if this happens, it is our soul that it affects. In (Hebrews 4:12) For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (NKJV), we see that there can even be a division between our soul and our spirit, but only God can truly explain these things to us. We can search His Scriptures and try to figure out what it means, but the secret things belong to God. I hope that you get something out of what this study has to offer and that the LORD reveals more about your soul to you through it. I suggest that you read the study on the heart and the mind also, for the whole reason that these studies were put together was because Scripture tells us to “Love the LORD our God with all our heart, our soul, and our mind”. So I hope that you get blessed and that God reveals more about yourself to you and more of who He is throughout these studies, God Bless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I put together this study years ago I thought to myself I have been this guy. I pretty much did most of everything that you will see the fool do. You see, there is a difference between intelligence, knowledge and wisdom. You can be intelligent, have a quick mind that processes information and in general makes good decisions. You can be knowledgeable, knowing also sorts of information. And you can be wise, knowing how to make wise decisions. You can also have a head full of knowledge be semi intelligent and act like a fool. This was me!!!! There is also the fool who is devoid of intelligence and knowledge and still acts like a fool.
Since I have become a Christian, the LORD has taken away a lot of my old nature and imputed some of His good characteristics. He has given me some wisdom to make better decisions, He has given me more knowledge about spiritual things that happen in this world and He has given me discernment to truly know the difference between good and evil. So that I hopefully do not make as many mistakes as I used too. Now this study was put together in order for people to recognize the fool and to stay away from this person for they do not make good decisions and so that people can also see how foolish they have been or tend to be, so that they can correct themselves if they are wise.
I would suggest to read the study on wisdom to compare the two different ways that people live. You will see the difference between the foolish and the wise. How different their lives are and how God views both of them. He loves them both, but because of their actions, they live totally different lives here on this earth. You can be poor or rich and either be a fool or wise. This is your choice whether you are wise or not. God will give you wisdom if you ask him for it. In James 1:5 it says to ask and believe that He will give it to you and you shall receive it. But the fool will never ask according to Scripture for he knows it all. I hope that you receive wisdom from this study and that you do not hang around with the foolish for they pay some pretty heavy judgments in this life and as the Word of God says “Bad company corrupts good manners”, and that you become like the people whom you hang around. But at the very least you should receive some knowledge of what the Word of God says about the fool. May God Bless You and keep you and may He give you wisdom, may you pray for all of those who you come into contact with that act foolish and may God bless the rest of your days!!!!
As you enter the house of God, keep your ears open and your mouth shut! Don’t be a fool who doesn’t realize that mindless offerings to God are evil. And don’t make rash promises to God, for he is in heaven, and you are only here on earth. So let your words be few.
Just as being too busy gives you nightmares, being a fool makes you a blabbermouth. So when you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him. It is better to say nothing than to promise something that you don’t follow through on. In such cases, your mouth is making you sin. And don’t defend yourself by telling the Temple messenger that the promise you made was a mistake. That would make God angry, and he might wipe out everything you have achieved.

When arguing with fools, don’t answer their foolish arguments, or you will become as foolish as they are.
When arguing with fools, be sure to answer their foolish arguments, or they will become wise in their own estimation.
(These last two verses people have often asked me if this is a contradiction, for in one statement God instructs us not to answer a fool, but in the next verse he tells us to answer a fool. This is what they call a contrast in the Bible, what this means is that you have to use the discernment that God has given you to either not answer the fool, or to answer the fool. For in some circumstances it is better not to answer the fool and in other circumstances you need to answer the fool, so that he or she doesn’t think that they are wise in their own eyes.) The heart of man. The very center of his soul. A very interesting and deceptive organ planted within every person. But we are not going to be speaking about the literal organ, but about the spiritual part of the heart. Where the LORD tells us to worship Him with all of our mind, heart and soul. So we are going to be focused on the heart.
We are going to start by defining some differences between the mind, the heart and the soul. The mind is the central processing center in which most of our thought processes seem to occur. Whenever a thought comes to mind we either, entertain it, rebuke it, or store it. This is where we can now see where the heart comes into play. If we store this information, it has now been moved from our mind into our heart. Now the soul, is who we are as a person. We have a mind, a heart and a soul. But our soul is really who we are. Our soul is comprised of what we store in our heart, so if we store evil in our heart, then we as a person will probably be evil and everybody will know us as an evil person. But if we store good things in our hearts and we do good things for ourselves and others, then we will probably be known as a good person in general to others.
Now let’s start looking at what the Word of God says about the heart. The first thing that I want to point out is what it says in (Jeremiah 17:9) The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (KJV). The reason I chose this particular verse, is because so many people preach “to follow your heart”. This is obviously a bad idea!!! Because our hearts are deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. And where it says “and who can know it?” Well we know that only God can truly know our hearts. As a matter of fact it says that He knows them better than we do, that is probably because throughout this study, you will see that God is very involved in the matters of the hearts. He is close to the broken hearted, He gives people new hearts, He changes the conditions in the hearts, He hardens hearts, He softens hearts, He touches hearts, He puts wisdom in the hearts, He tests the hearts, He gives understanding to the heart, He gives specific skills to the heart, He cleans the heart, He purifies the heart, and a whole lot more, as you will see as you go through the study.
Since we know that the heart is deceitful above all things, then we can conclude that we should probably be very careful in how we listen to it. As you will see below, there are a few different words in Scripture that are used for the word “heart”. And like the very first word used in Scripture “leb” (Hebrew), this word describes a lot of different attributes of the heart. It is used to describe feelings, the will, the intellect, the center of something, courage, understanding, wisdom, etc. So we see that when they translate these words, they try to interpret them into the most logical form for the sentence structure, to fit what is being said. There are only a few different words that are used for the word heart in Scripture, three in Hebrew (leb, lebab, and sekviy), each word is a little different in meaning and each one is used properly for the sentence structure. In the Greek there are only two different ones (kardia, sklerokardia), which both have different meanings. The one is speaking about having a heart and the other about being hard hearted, like almost destitute of having one.
In the Jewish culture, the Jews believed that the emotions were kept in the inward parts, some scholars suggest that they were actually kept in the belly. And there are some other words used in the Hebrew that suggest this. I kept running across these words during this study, but chose not to include them, for I was just trying to keep to the topic. But if you are really interested I would suggest to do a word study on either (Inward parts, belly, or stomach). Now I do not know, if you know anybody that says that they get butterflies in their stomachs, or you get an upset stomach watching something, but I can say that I know people who say these things, and I can testify of having my heart broke, where it felt like my heart was jerked and my stomach was upset. So I think that the Jews might have some validity in this area.
I want to cover some of the different attributes of the heart. When we look at the list below we can see that there are a lot of different things that are stored in our hearts. First we will look at the good things, like integrity, wisdom, understanding, our imagination, discernment, our intentions, our motives, our desires, our reason, our trust, our loyalty, our hope, our humility. Now let’s look at some of the other things that dwell within our hearts; murder, envy, hatred, adultery, fornication, bitterness, secrets, deceit, wickedness, iniquity, foolishness, perversity, pride, abominations, defiance, rebellion, self-seeking.
We can now see that the heart is deceitful above all things. There is a lot more going on inside than we can actually see. People in general can be read like books, you will in general know what kind of a person they are by what comes out of their mouths. But some people are really good at hiding who they really are. They put up a facade that you cannot tell what is going on until it is too late. They are the Judas Iscariots of the Bible.
Now according to Scripture we do not have a clean heart until we are born again, when we are born again it tells us that God gives us a new heart, that is clean, and we are a new creation in Christ, but we do not always act like it. That is because we still have a fallen nature that is always trying to pull us back into our fleshly desires. Things that are contrary to God’s best for us. Let’s take sex for an example, sex was created by God for intimacy in a marriage relationship, but the enemy of our souls, wants us to have it with anybody we desire. The problem with that is that there are consequences for doing that. If you are married and you do that, then you have committed adultery and you might end up going thru a divorce. If you are not married and you are having sex, then you are fornicating and you might have unwanted children outside of wedlock and or a sexually transmitted disease.
When we are told to worship the LORD with all of our mind, our heart, and our soul, we are told to do something that can be done! In this study you will see a section that tells us what we should be doing to be right with God. He has a part and we have a part. Our part is to bring our hearts to him, ask him to clean us up when we backslide (Also known as repentance), we need to believe God and hide His words in our hearts. We need to purify our hearts by faith, and we do this by applying the Word of God into our lives. We are told many times and in different ways that it is our responsibility to get God’s word into our hearts. This is our part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When we do this, a great change starts happening in your life. You have power over the enemy of your soul and now you know what the LORD requires of you and you quit living your lives by your feelings. Now God gave us feelings and they are not a bad thing, but they can be bad, if they get out of balance. In this study you will also see a section on different emotions that are in our hearts also. I hope that you glean what you can from this study and that you let the Word of God speak to your heart and receive from Him!!!! If you like this study I would suggest to take a look at the study on the “Mind” also, may God Bless You and keep you, and fill your heart with all of His goodness!!! God Bless!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whom do you ridicule? Against whom do you make a wide mouth And stick out the tongue? Are you not children of transgression, Offspring of falsehood, Inflaming yourselves with gods under every green tree, Slaying the children in the valleys, Under the clefts of the rocks? Among the smooth stones of the stream Is your portion; They, they, are your lot! Even to them you have poured a drink offering, You have offered a grain offering. Should I receive comfort in these? “On a lofty and high mountain You have set your bed; Even there you went up To offer sacrifice. Also behind the doors and their posts You have set up your remembrance; For you have uncovered yourself to those other than Me, And have gone up to them; You have enlarged your bed And made a covenant with them; You have loved their bed, Where you saw their nudity. You went to the king with ointment, And increased your perfumes; You sent your messengers far off, And even descended to Sheol. You are wearied in the length of your way; Yet you did not say, ‘There is no hope.’ You have found the life of your hand; Therefore you were not grieved. “And of whom have you been afraid, or feared, That you have lied And not remembered Me, Nor taken it to your heart? Is it not because I have held My peace from of old That you do not fear Me? I will declare your righteousness And your works, For they will not profit you. But he who puts his trust in Me shall possess the land, And shall inherit My holy mountain.” And one shall say, “Heap it up! Heap it up! Prepare the way, Take the stumbling block out of the way of My people.” For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones. For I will not contend forever, Nor will I always be angry; For the spirit would fail before Me, And the souls which I have made. For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry and struck him; I hid and was angry, And he went on backsliding in the way of his heart. I have seen his ways, and will heal him; I will also lead him, And restore comforts to him And to his mourners. “I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace to him who is far off and to him who is near,” Says the LORD, “And I will heal him.” But the wicked are like the troubled sea, When it cannot rest, Whose waters cast up mire and dirt. “There is no peace,” Says my God, “for the wicked.” (NKJV)

(NKJV)
<<A Contemplation of Asaph.>> Give ear, O my people, to my law; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children; That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children, That they may set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments; And may not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not set its heart aright, And whose spirit was not faithful to God. The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, Turned back in the day of battle. They did not keep the covenant of God; They refused to walk in His law, And forgot His works And His wonders that He had shown them. Marvelous things He did in the sight of their fathers, In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. He divided the sea and caused them to pass through; And He made the waters stand up like a heap. In the daytime also He led them with the cloud, And all the night with a light of fire. He split the rocks in the wilderness, And gave them drink in abundance like the depths. He also brought streams out of the rock, And caused waters to run down like rivers. But they sinned even more against Him By rebelling against the Most High in the wilderness. And they tested God in their heart By asking for the food of their fancy. Yes, they spoke against God: They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness? Behold, He struck the rock, So that the waters gushed out, And the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?” Therefore the LORD heard this and was furious; So a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger also came up against Israel, Because they did not believe in God, And did not trust in His salvation. Yet He had commanded the clouds above, And opened the doors of heaven, Had rained down manna on them to eat, And given them of the bread of heaven. Men ate angels’ food; He sent them food to the full. He caused an east wind to blow in the heavens; And by His power He brought in the south wind. He also rained meat on them like the dust, Feathered fowl like the sand of the seas; And He let them fall in the midst of their camp, All around their dwellings. So they ate and were well filled, For He gave them their own desire. They were not deprived of their craving; But while their food was still in their mouths, The wrath of God came against them, And slew the stoutest of them, And struck down the choice men of Israel. In spite of this they still sinned, And did not believe in His wondrous works. Therefore their days He consumed in futility, And their years in fear. When He slew them, then they sought Him; And they returned and sought earnestly for God. Then they remembered that God was their rock, And the Most High God their Redeemer. Nevertheless they flattered Him with their mouth, And they lied to Him with their tongue; For their heart was not steadfast with Him, Nor were they faithful in His covenant. But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, And did not destroy them. Yes, many a time He turned His anger away, And did not stir up all His wrath; For He remembered that they were but flesh, A breath that passes away and does not come again. How often they provoked Him in the wilderness, And grieved Him in the desert! Yes, again and again they tempted God, And limited the Holy One of Israel. They did not remember His power: The day when He redeemed them from the enemy, When He worked His signs in Egypt, And His wonders in the field of Zoan; Turned their rivers into blood, And their streams, that they could not drink. He sent swarms of flies among them, which devoured them, And frogs, which destroyed them. He also gave their crops to the caterpillar, And their labor to the locust. He destroyed their vines with hail, And their sycamore trees with frost. He also gave up their cattle to the hail, And their flocks to fiery lightning. He cast on them the fierceness of His anger, Wrath, indignation, and trouble, By sending angels of destruction among them. He made a path for His anger; He did not spare their soul from death, But gave their life over to the plague, And destroyed all the firstborn in Egypt, The first of their strength in the tents of Ham. But He made His own people go forth like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness like a flock; And He led them on safely, so that they did not fear; But the sea overwhelmed their enemies. And He brought them to His holy border, This mountain which His right hand had acquired. He also drove out the nations before them, Allotted them an inheritance by survey, And made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents. Yet they tested and provoked the Most High God, And did not keep His testimonies, But turned back and acted unfaithfully like their fathers; They were turned aside like a deceitful bow. For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, And moved Him to jealousy with their carved images. When God heard this, He was furious, And greatly abhorred Israel, So that He forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, The tent He had placed among men, And delivered His strength into captivity, And His glory into the enemy’s hand. He also gave His people over to the sword, And was furious with His inheritance. The fire consumed their young men, And their maidens were not given in marriage. Their priests fell by the sword, And their widows made no lamentation. Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, Like a mighty man who shouts because of wine. And He beat back His enemies; He put them to a perpetual reproach. Moreover He rejected the tent of Joseph, And did not choose the tribe of Ephraim, But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which He loved. And He built His sanctuary like the heights, Like the earth which He has established forever. He also chose David His servant, And took him from the sheepfolds; From following the ewes that had young He brought him, To shepherd Jacob His people, And Israel His inheritance. So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, And guided them by the skillfulness of his hands. (NKJV)
