This page was created to recommend books for further study of the The Holy Bible and the furtherance of your Christian walk with the LORD. I have personally benefitted and used some of these books in accordance with building this website. Most of these books are still in print or can be bought online through a variety of online sellers. There are three different descriptions that will be listed. The Title of the Book, the author, and a quick description of how it will help you. Pilgrim’s Progress (John Bunyan) Fictional story about being a Christian and a Christian’s walk throughout their life (Second most bought book in history, the first is the Holy Bible).
The Works of Josephus (Josephus/Jewish Historian) He lived shortly after Jesus Christ was on the planet, some of the earliest history we have from that time period.
1828 Webster’s Dictionary (Reprint of the original) Uses Bible references with some of the definitions in the Dictionary, really good for a deeper study of the Holy Bible.
Halley’s Bible Handbook (Commentary, Archaeology, Maps, Church History) Excellent resource for Bible Study.
Foxe’s Book of Martyrs (John Foxe/Early Church Persecutions) Testimonies of people being persecuted for their faith.
Correcting the Cults (Norman Geisler & Ron Rhodes) This book will teach you about different religions that do not correctly present the gospel (False Religions)
Holman Illustrated Bible Handbook (Similar to Halley’s Bible Handbook) Has a lot of illustrations and QR codes that link to videos for your smart phone to watch.
The Bible Knowledge Commentary (John F. Walvoord & Roy B. Zuck) This two book set (Old & New Testaments) is a very detailed commentary on the entire Bible. Very good for deep study into the word of God.
Strong’s Concordance (James Strong) This book breaks down every word in the Bible from the original text which was either Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek. Giving you all of the definitions of the words in their original languages.
Biblical Hermeneutics (Milton S. Terry) This book is about interpreting Scripture correctly. The word “Hermeneutics” refers to the science of interpretation. This book is designed for a deep study of Scripture.
Smith’s Bible Dictionary (This dictionary was written in 1884 and I am including a link to a free PDF download) This Bible dictionary covers every subject and person in the Bible. I have personally used this particular resource for many years.
The Pursuit of God (A.W. Tozer) This book is for those who are actively pursuing a relationship with God. Tozer helps explain how to walk with the Lord.
Strategy of Satan (Warren W. Wiersbe) This book is a hard one to read. It reveals Satan’s strategy against you. So Satan does everything that he can to distract you from reading this book. Don’t be surprised when you start to read it that all sorts of strange things happen around you. But remember, God is with you and “He is greater that is in you, than he that is in the world”, this is speaking about how “The Holy Spirit” that is within you is greater than Satan and his minions. So enjoy getting educated about Satan’s strategies against you, for they do not change, and by the time you get done reading this book, you will recognize the spiritual battle that goes on around you daily.
The Screwtape Letters (C.S. Lewis) This book enlightens you into how the Devil thinks and his demons. It is based on a fictional account about an older demon teaching his young demon nephew how to mess with Christians. It is a very interesting insight into how the demons use certain strategies against us to keep us out of God’s will.
Charisma Vs. Charismania (Chuck Smith) This book describes how the Holy Spirit works in the life of believers. How to understand the difference between those who claim to have the Spirit and those who really have the Spirit. This book uses Scripture to back its premises, but even the author tells you to search the Scriptures.
Strong-Willed Child (James Dobson) This book is for those of you out there that have that strong willed child. This book will help you understand and find ways to interact with that child that are healthy for everyone involved.
Wisdom for Today (Chuck Smith) This is a daily devotional written by Chuck Smith the founder of Calvary Chapel. Devotionals are short stories written to inspire you for the day.
Truth for Each Day (Billy Graham) This is a daily devotional written by Billy Graham (The Most well known Evangelist of the 20th century).
Streams in the Desert (Many Authors) This daily devotional was created by taking short devotions from throughout the centuries and putting them into one book.
Uncommon Life (Tony Dungy) This is a daily devotional that was created by NFL famous Tony Dungy. His unique perspective from the life of a sports background comes through with this devotion. Being a coach for so long really comes out through this unique devotional.
Jesus Decides (Kaye Bennett) I know this author personally and she is a great woman of God. Her book is for those who have gone through hard obstacles in life and have struggled with the grace of God. I personally have benefitted from this book and I would suggest it to anyone who needs the grace of God in their lives.
