Courage

I understand that this subject is something that people get throughout their lifetime. The more a person faces their fears, the more courageous they become. Throughout Scripture you see people who do not have any courage, God does not call them cowards, but He also does not call them to the tasks that He calls others too. I believe that these people are fearful and intimidated by the enemy of our souls. The one thing that you will see repeated over and over in Scripture is that we have dominion (Control) over the enemy. Only because of what Jesus did on the cross, and only if you are a child of God. If you are not a child of God, you can still be courageous, but you do not have any say so over the enemy (Satan). I want to share an acronym that the LORD gave me for courage, it is, Count On Understanding Revealed At God’s Event. I hope that the LORD will give you courage and that you will learn to face your fears, so that you can live victoriously in Christ. Joshua 1:9 says “I command you- be strong and courageous!!!” May God Bless You with courage and remember perfect love casts out fear!!! God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Tim. 1:7)

Courage: n. the quality of being able to control one’s fear and so to face danger, pain, or trouble willingly; bravery.

Numbers 13:17-20

Moses gave the men these instructions as he sent them out to explore the land: “Go northward through the Negev into the hill country. See what the land is like and find out whether the people living there are strong or weak, few or many. What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or bad? Do their towns have walls or are they unprotected? How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there many trees? Enter the land boldly, and bring back samples of the crops you see.” (It happened to be the season for harvesting the first ripe grapes.)

Deuteronomy 31:1-6

When Moses had finished saying these things to all the people of Israel, he said, “I am now 120 years old and am no longer able to lead you. The LORD has told me that I will not cross the Jordan River. But the LORD your God himself will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy the nations living there, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua is your new leader, and he will go with you, just as the LORD promised. The LORD will destroy the nations living in the land, just as he destroyed Sihon and Og, the king of the Amorites. The LORD will hand over to you the people who live there, and you will deal with them as I have commanded you. Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid of them! The LORD your God will go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:7-8

Then Moses called for Joshua, and as all of Israel watched he said to him, “Be strong and courageous! For you will lead these people into the land that the LORD swore to give their ancestors. You are the one who will deliver it to them as their inheritance. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD is the one who goes before you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:23

Then the LORD commissioned Joshua son of Nun with these words: “Be strong and courageous! You must bring the people of Israel into the land I swore to give them. I will be with you.”

Joshua 1:1-10

After the death of Moses the LORD’s servant, the LORD spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant. He said, “Now that my servant Moses is dead, you must lead my people across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them. I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Everywhere you go, you will be on land I have given you – from the Negev Desert in the south to the Lebanon mountains in the north, from the Euphrates River on the east to the Mediterranean Sea on the west, and all the land of the Hittites.’ No one will be able to stand their ground against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.

“Be strong and courageous, for you will lead my people to possess all the land I swore to give their ancestors. Be strong and very courageous. Obey all the laws Moses gave you. Do not turn away from them, and you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed. I command you – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
